Research, Analysis, Synthesis
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Inquiry (JII) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to fostering research that bridges disciplinary boundaries. JII publishes innovative scholarship that engages multiple fields, methods, and perspectives in order to address complex questions and expand the frontiers of knowledge. Our mission is to encourage rigorous inquiry that transcends traditional academic silos, bringing together insights from the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, the arts, and beyond. By promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, JII seeks to cultivate a deeper understanding of the interconnected challenges and ideas that shape our world.
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Inquiry is committed to advancing knowledge that is both intellectually rigorous and socially relevant.
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Inquiry approaches “inquiry” in its broadest sense. We welcome research that synthesizes knowledge across disciplines, explores the integration of diverse methodologies, or develops new frameworks for understanding complex phenomena.
Our scope includes, but is not limited to:
Interdisciplinary studies in the humanities and social sciences
Scientific and technological research with societal impacts
Environmental and sustainability studies
Cultural, historical, and philosophical analysis
Policy, ethics, and applied research
Theoretical and methodological reflections on interdisciplinarity itself
We publish research articles, long-form essays, critical reviews, case studies, and brief communications that appeal to a diverse audience of scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and the interested public. The journal is freely available through an open-access online platform.
Original research articles that address complex questions through interdisciplinary approaches, integrating theories, methods, or data from multiple fields.
Critical essays and reviews that evaluate, synthesize, or challenge ideas and frameworks from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Integrative studies that propose new models, frameworks, or solutions by combining insights from distinct disciplines.
