Submission Preparation Checklist
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Inquiry uses a single-blind peer-review process. We welcome original manuscripts that demonstrate research, analysis, and synthesis across disciplinary boundaries. Before submitting, ensure that your manuscript meets the following requirements.
General Requirements
Manuscripts should not exceed 12,000 words (excluding abstract, references, and appendices).
All submissions must be original and not under review by another journal.
Manuscripts must be double-spaced, in a 12-point Unicode font (preferably Times New Roman).
Submit both Microsoft Word and PDF versions of your manuscript.
Authors retain copyright but license their articles under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) 4.0 License.

Types of Submissions Accepted
Research Articles
Original scholarly research demonstrating interdisciplinary approaches, integrating theories, methods, or data from multiple disciplines. Must cite and reference original works wherever possible.
Analytical Essays and Reviews
Critical essays that evaluate, synthesize, or critique existing frameworks from an interdisciplinary perspective. Reviews of recent research or theoretical debates are encouraged.
Synthesis Papers
Integrative studies proposing new frameworks or models by combining insights from diverse fields.
Case Studies and Applications
Detailed examinations of real-world applications demonstrating interdisciplinary approaches.
Brief Communications
Short notes (up to 2,000 words) on conference findings, emerging issues, or preliminary research of interdisciplinary relevance.
Citation and Style Guide
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Inquiry follows APA 7th edition style.
Authors should:
Cite sources in-text according to APA 7th edition guidelines (author, year).
Format references in APA 7th edition style.
Ensure all references are complete and consistently formatted.
Example in-text citation:
(Smith, 2020; Johnson & Lee, 2019)
Example reference list entry:
Smith, A. (2020). Title of the book. Publisher.
Johnson, B., & Lee, C. (2019). Title of article. Journal Name, 12(3), 45–60. https://doi.org/xxxx
Formatting Guidelines
Include a title page with manuscript title, authors’ names and affiliations, and contact information.
Include an abstract of approximately 150–250 words summarizing the key contributions.
Use clear headings and subheadings to organize your manuscript.
Figures and tables should be high-resolution and appropriately labeled.
Images or illustrations must be submitted as separate high-resolution JPEG or PNG files. Authors must secure permissions for non-original materials.
Licensing and Copyright
Authors retain copyright of their work while granting JII the right of first publication. Articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) 4.0 License.
Publication and Processing Fees
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Inquiry does not charge any fees at the time of manuscript submission or during the peer review process.
After a manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication, authors will be assessed a one time publication processing fee.
The publication processing fee is $25 USD per accepted manuscript.
The fee is charged only after final acceptance and prior to publication.
Payment of the fee guarantees publication of the accepted manuscript and includes digital formatting, DOI registration, online hosting, and long term archiving.
There are no submission fees, review fees, or additional charges.
Fee waivers may be granted on a case by case basis for authors with demonstrated financial need or institutional constraints. Waiver requests must be submitted after acceptance and before publication and are reviewed at the discretion of the editorial board.
Authors will receive payment instructions after acceptance. Failure to complete payment may delay or prevent publication of the accepted manuscript.
